Customers of Crate and Barrel desired a tool to better visualize the process of building a sectional sofa. To create this tool, I worked with the Furniture eCommerce team. We began the process by conducting research. We completed a competitive analysis, conducted surveys, and talked with customers and store associates to get a better understanding of the issues we hoped to solve with the Sectional Planner Tool.

After the initial research, we sketched up several different potential approaches for the Sectional Planner. We narrowed it down to the key features that would best assist the customer in creating their sectional. With wireframes, we built out the user flow and began doing usability testing with wireframes. With the feedback from the testings, we then refined the designs and did another round of usability testing with high-fidelity mockups. After all of the testings were complete, we produced a final design for the website.

I then attended a video shoot to art direct the marketing feature that would promote the Sectional Planner. We launched the Sectional Planner tool in October 2017. The addition of this tool to the Crate and Barrel website achieved an increase in sectional sales, increased revenue per visit, conversion rate, and the average order value.
